From March 24 until April 18 Melbourne will be rolling out the welcome mat and turning on all the city lights. This year’s Melbourne Comedy Festival is going to be great and, if there was ever a time in history that we needed a laugh, this is it.

With a combination of familiar famous comedians and fresh new talent, in city venues, local pubs, and online, our exceptional entertainers will be turning their attention to making the crowds see the funny side of life.

The Gala showcases the major talent and the Annual Great Debate is on again, for the 31st time. Catch a family friendly show, settle in for a fun night of drag queens, or change things up a bit by joining a comedic walking tour.

What to do while you’re in Melbourne?

Melbourne’s sights are sensational and we have a super fun day trip that takes you around town. Travel across the famous Westgate Bridge and learn about its history, venture out to St Kilda Beach and even further along to see the colourful Brighton Beach bathing boxes.

If you like heights, head up to the Eureka Skydeck and go ‘out on the edge’ in a glass bottomed box that gives a bird’s eye view of the city or have a scenic ride on the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel.

Melbourne truly does have something for everyone. If you’re interested in fashion, amble through the laneways and discover a new designer, if art is your thing, visit the NGV art gallery, Everyone has to eat and Melbourne is famous for its hospitality. Dine at one of the top restaurants in the country at Southbank, book in at Vue De Monde, or try the brand new Gippsland specialty restaurant, Farmer’s Daughters. If you’re attending the theatre or a production, check out one of the many cheap and cheerful restaurants in Chinatown.

What to visit near Melbourne?

Victorian borders are open and Melbourne is as safe as any city in Australia. You will need to fill in a travel declaration upon entry into the state but it’s a quick process and it certainly won’t stop you from planning an incredible trip around this spectacular state.
